1 banana (make sure the banana is ripe or it will be bitter) (it should have spots on it)
Spinach or Kale (I really cannot taste a difference and often switch them up so I get the vitamin benefit)
You will need a high powered blender. I like to use a Vitamix.
Ok so all you do is put in your Greens (spinach or kale) add your banana, put in a small amount of water and some ice. I don’t measure everything because everyone is different. You may like yours thinner or thicker than I do. The ice also will make it more like a smoothie than a drink and some like theirs very cold while other do not. So you need to play around with that and see how you like it.
That’s it! Just blend, pour and enjoy. My little ones will run to the counter when they hear the Vitamix asking if they can have some too. LOL I love it! They are getting a vitamin boost and a fruit slushy at one time.
Now to keep things from getting boring you can add other fruit or veggies. Don’t be afraid to play around and see what you create. It is fun. Here are a couple of my favorites. Don’t forget that you may always want to add the banana since that is how you get your drink sweet. J
- Apple and orange (I love this one when the oranges are in season)
- Grapes (if the grapes are in season they can make your green drink even sweeter, but always seem to make it takes lighter and fresher)
- Berries (any and all kinds just whatever is in season or frozen)
Some people like to add carrots, ginger, and celery to theirs. Ginger and celery can give it a little kick. So if you don’t like a little kick be careful with how much you add. Ginger is said to help with pain so many will add it to their Green Drinks daily.
I hope you have fun and enjoy your Green Drinks! Feel free to post your favorite below.
The one in the photo above actually also has an apple and one carrot in it. I was making one and everyone else wanted it too so I just added the apple for bulk and extra bananas.
